The whole wedding ceremony was written in Dr Seuss rhyming verse including the love stories and vows except of course for the legal vows and legal Monitum.

On behalf of Nigel and myself, I just wanted to say a very big, and much appreciated, thank you for the wonderful effort you put into making our special night so memorable. When I was looking for a celebrant I noticed in all the photos on Marilyn’s website, she looked so happy to be part of a couple’s very special day. From the moment I met her, I knew Marilyn was the right celebrant for us, as we wanted to celebrate something very unique. As we had already done the traditional wedding thirty years ago, we wanted something completely different……… so we had a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Marilyn pulled out all stops dressing up as the Mad Hatter and writing well scripted vows. As a surprise ceremony to our guests, it was like watching a theatre production.  It turns out, Marilyn has a background in Theatre and she completely made the night. All of our guests commented on how wonderful it was and wanted to know where on Earth we found Marilyn. Some of our guests cut short holidays to come to what they thought was our party but was actually a surprise wedding renewal. They said afterwards they would not have wanted to miss this for anything. She is very funny, sincere, kind and the script showed all of this with some great laughs, but it still had all the traditional love built in. Our only regret was not hiring her husband to take video footage of the night. We cannot thank Marilyn enough for everything she did for us for us in the lead up to and including on the night. WOW what an awesome RocknRoll wedding!!! Mandy & Dave were looking for a celebrant who could create a Rockabilly themed wedding for them that was relaxed, fun and upbeat, so they contacted me and we hit it off straight away. I have a passion for dancing and have danced competition Rock n Roll and have been a 50’s music fan since listening to 50s & 60s records and on the Juke Boxes in the Vintage RocknRoll Cafes. I recommended that they contact my friends and dance teachers, Chrissy & Ray, to learn to dance and they incorporated their surprise choreographed dance after the ceremony. Chrissy did their hair and makeup as she is an expert in creating the 50’s styling. They had fabulous Pete Vegas sing throughout the ceremony and for their first dance and performed a show after dinner. They rocked up in the fabulous vintage car and had so many awesome photos taken with it. Their good friend Natalie from Spaghetti & Jazz surprised them by dressing as Marilyn Monroe and sang Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend as a feature in their Wedding Ceremony. The food at Spaghetti & Jazz was great and the hospitality second to none!!

With an incredible knowledge and understanding of rituals and ceremonies from cultures of all over the world, Marilyn was instrumental in making our ceremony so unique, magical, interesting, and heartfelt.  Her entwining of our love stories had people in laughter and tears and many of our guests commented on things that she quoted. This showed us that she captured our people whom listened to the entire 45 minute ceremony and really enjoyed it. Overall, from our first meeting, then preparing our ritual, to our actual big moment, Marilyn has been absolutely remarkable. (Mostly planned by email using your resources while we were working in the Antarctic) it gave us such peace of mind! We loved working with you and after about 20 drafts we had the Perfect Personalized Ceremony! We were hoping for a perfect sunny sky for our outdoor ceremony but the weather had other ideas on the day of course and the rain started to fall just as Katie was walking down the aisle. We can only imagine how difficult is it would have been for you to keep the ceremony going. Thank you for going with the flow and regrouping the ‘Take Two’ inside on the dance floor! We'd love everyone to know that Marilyn went far above and beyond with writing and signing emergency official visa documents, out of business hours, for Katie's family to send to the embassy just days before the wedding so that they could come to Australia for the special day! Marilyn was fantastic right from the beginning and we could not have chosen anyone better to be our celebrant. Marilyn drafted a medieval wedding ceremony for us less than a few days after we chose her and was patient with us as we sent drafts back and forth. The result was a collaborative and mind-blowing piece of work that was uniquely us and kept our wedding guests thoroughly engaged. Living in Townsville, we were worried about arranging a wedding in Brisbane. We should not have been worried though. Marilyn initially arranged a Skype call with us so we could meet virtually to discuss the wedding and as the wedding got closer, arranged for us to meet with her at her home when we were visiting Brisbane before the wedding. She also kept in regular email contact through each step of the planning process. All these things truly made it feel that the distance did not matter and it was an amazing feeling knowing that our celebrant was interested and excited for our wedding day as much as we were. Marilyn goes the extra mile. As we were worried about organising someone to play music for the ceremony, she suggested that her husband Marcel could play our play list for us (at a small cost). This turned out to be so easy- we just had to send a list of songs we wanted, and he did the rest. One less thing to worry about, which was greatly appreciated when we were already stressed. She also had recommendations on handfasting cords, how to create our love story, and ways to make the ceremony uniquely us. Marilyn also kindly reminded us to pay the final amount owing that we had somehow overlooked- another thing to keep us on track when we had so much else on. Marilyn further organised our marriage certificate and explained where to start with the name changing process. Her professionalism shone through in these respects. You would think that a celebrant’s work finishes after the wedding- but she has emailed us since to check in to see how we enjoyed our honeymoon. Another example of her going above and beyond. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Marilyn and we are so incredibly thankful for her support, patience, professionalism and interest in us, our wedding and our marriage. We would Definitely Recommend Marilyn for a Handfasting Wedding whether Medieval, Secular or Pagan. There are not enough words to describe how amazing Marilyn is! We got engaged in 2012 and when we started to look for a celebrant, we came across Marilyn and something instantly drew us to her. 6 years on in 2019, we finally had the money to actually get married and despite all the time that had passed and having looked at other celebrants, we ended up back with Marilyn (again something just drew us to her). Living in NSW, we had to meet Marilyn via Skype and from that moment we knew why we had been drawn to her. The 1.5 hour Skype session flew past (even for my now hubby who hates chatting on the phone) and during this time she made us laugh and we made her cry with our love story. We booked her immediately and have never looked back. From that moment on, Marilyn kept in touch with us via email, sending us so much helpful information and we met with her twice at her home. We were greeted with a cuddle when we arrived and we felt like we had known her forever. She is super professional and you can tell she loves what she does. Nothing was too much trouble (not even sending her our personal vows two days before the wedding when she wanted them two weeks before lol). One of the things that drew us to Marilyn was the wide array of extras that she offers, one of which is a Scottish Hand-fasting. Being Scottish myself but marrying an Australian in Australia, I wanted some touches of home so the fact that Marilyn offered this was phenomenal. It was another amazing decision, as you can include various family members in your ceremony that otherwise would not have a role. During the ceremony, Marilyn kept us on track and grounded and more importantly calm. She made us beautiful wedding vow booklets and even took the time to find out what the wedding party were wearing so she could co-ordinate her outfit so as not to clash with the colours we were using. She is an amazing woman who will make your day as special as it can be!  Getting married in Australia was a bit of a daunting prospect for us given we live in Scotland!  However finding Marilyn on the internet was like FINDING GOLD! When we met with her on Skype we hit it off and knew that she was the celebrant for us.  She was so warm, sincere and knowledgeable. Marilyn talked us through the whole process and really gave us confidence in how to proceed.  Given the distances between our countries this was invaluable.  I have to say that Marilyn gave us good advice all the way and I would strongly recommend following her advice as her experience in this field is second to none.
