Marilyn was fantastic right from the beginning and we could not have chosen anyone better to be our celebrant. Marilyn drafted a medieval wedding ceremony for us less than a few days after we chose her and was patient with us as we sent drafts back and forth. The result was a collaborative and mind-blowing piece of work that was uniquely us and kept our wedding guests thoroughly engaged. Living in Townsville, we were worried about arranging a wedding in Brisbane. We should not have been worried though. Marilyn initially arranged a Skype call with us so we could meet virtually to discuss the wedding and as the wedding got closer, arranged for us to meet with her at her home when we were visiting Brisbane before the wedding. She also kept in regular email contact through each step of the planning process. All these things truly made it feel that the distance did not matter and it was an amazing feeling knowing that our celebrant was interested and excited for our wedding day as much as we were. Marilyn goes the extra mile. As we were worried about organising someone to play music for the ceremony, she suggested that her husband Marcel could play our play list for us (at a small cost). This turned out to be so easy- we just had to send a list of songs we wanted, and he did the rest. One less thing to worry about, which was greatly appreciated when we were already stressed. She also had recommendations on handfasting cords, how to create our love story, and ways to make the ceremony uniquely us. Marilyn also kindly reminded us to pay the final amount owing that we had somehow overlooked- another thing to keep us on track when we had so much else on. Marilyn further organised our marriage certificate and explained where to start with the name changing process. Her professionalism shone through in these respects. You would think that a celebrant’s work finishes after the wedding- but she has emailed us since to check in to see how we enjoyed our honeymoon. Another example of her going above and beyond. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Marilyn and we are so incredibly thankful for her support, patience, professionalism and interest in us, our wedding and our marriage. Marry Me Marilyn was amazing both as a Wedding Celebrant and tour guide through all of the legalities of tying the knot! Our plans were significantly altered by COVID for our ceremony by going from relatively large to just 6 people. There are not enough words to describe how amazing Marilyn is! We got engaged in 2012 and when we started to look for a celebrant, we came across Marilyn and something instantly drew us to her. 6 years on in 2019, we finally had the money to actually get married and despite all the time that had passed and having looked at other celebrants, we ended up back with Marilyn (again something just drew us to her). Living in NSW, we had to meet Marilyn via Skype and from that moment we knew why we had been drawn to her. The 1.5 hour Skype session flew past (even for my now hubby who hates chatting on the phone) and during this time she made us laugh and we made her cry with our love story. We booked her immediately and have never looked back. From that moment on, Marilyn kept in touch with us via email, sending us so much helpful information and we met with her twice at her home. We were greeted with a cuddle when we arrived and we felt like we had known her forever. She is super professional and you can tell she loves what she does. Nothing was too much trouble (not even sending her our personal vows two days before the wedding when she wanted them two weeks before lol). One of the things that drew us to Marilyn was the wide array of extras that she offers, one of which is a Scottish Hand-fasting. Being Scottish myself but marrying an Australian in Australia, I wanted some touches of home so the fact that Marilyn offered this was phenomenal. It was another amazing decision, as you can include various family members in your ceremony that otherwise would not have a role. During the ceremony, Marilyn kept us on track and grounded and more importantly calm. She made us beautiful wedding vow booklets and even took the time to find out what the wedding party were wearing so she could co-ordinate her outfit so as not to clash with the colours we were using. Marilyn stood out when we were looking for a celebrant on the internet and we instantly knew she was the one that was going to marry us. We would Definitely Recommend Marilyn for a Handfasting Wedding whether Medieval, Secular or Pagan. Firstly, Marilyn is a superstar, from the first call, to our first meeting and rehearsal in her welcoming home, to the actual ceremony. There are no words that can describe how overjoyed we are that we choose our first choice (we just knew she was the one after speaking to her on the phone) of celebrant. After reading some of the reviews that others had posted you could only hope you day could be a half as good, but believe me when I say it was much better than any review posted. “this is one of the best ceremonies I have attended”, one guest offered up, and another saying “you took us on an emotional rollercoaster. One minute we were laughing and the next crying”. Not only did this give us comfort it was our wedding they were talking about but the tone was set by Marilyn’s amazingly written words throughout, interjecting such fabulous humour and sensitivity. She, also kept control throughout the ceremony and even when things didn’t go to plan, she professionally continued giving enough time for what we had planned ( our dog to howl and bark at a set point), and when it didn’t she continued on, with no-one even noticing (except those in the knowledge)! The vows booklets, ceremonial marriage certificate, the copy of the ceremony and the hand fasting ties were all handed over at the end of the ceremony at a respectable opportunity by Marilyn, and the genuine heartfelt excitement and enthusiasm about us officially married was overwhelming. From the very first time we met Marilyn, we felt as if there was something magical happening. It may have only been via Skype, but we finally felt contented in having found the exact person we wanted - she ticked all our boxes. Marilyn had a warm, calm and confident presence and we soon arranged a meeting at her lovely home to start the ball rolling. She was professional, caring, respectful and open minded. She employed a very elegant technique of collaborative creation - helping to design our wedding ceremony with as much or little help from her as we wanted. There were no rights or wrongs, no pressure, only help and support. If we wanted to be in full control of our wedding, that was fine. If we wanted Marilyn to take full control, that was fine also. On our actual wedding day, it was raining at first, but almost miraculously the clouds parted and all became calm over the water just as our ceremony was about to start. Thank you Marilyn for an Unforgettable Wedding Ceremony!  Our Wedding Day was Amazing and the Ceremony was Warm, Funny and Relaxed. It was exactly what we wanted it to be and went off without a hitch! We decided to go with a Celtic influenced Handfasting Ceremony as well as a Ring Warming Ceremony which was lovely!  It was very 'us' and the guests kept reiterating this to us long after the wedding! Marilyn was the first celebrant Tim and I had met and decided after the first meeting she would be perfect for our wedding day. Marilyn seemed to understand our values well, as we wanted a more 'spiritual' based ceremony rather than a religious one. Marilyn was always very organized, friendly and professional, as well as being a perfectionist. She ensures no stone is left unturned during the planning process and even brought to our attention details we had not recognised as being important, but that we couldn’t have done without on the day. Dear Marilyn, I’ve found it difficult to sit and write this thank you letter. Being able to find the right words to properly express how thankful and grateful Ryan and I are for your presence and expertise at our wedding is difficult. Quite literally I’m not sure if the day would have gone ahead without you, it definitely wouldn’t have had the same depth, heart and soul in it if it had.  Due to my health issues, then unexpected health issues of close family members, at one point it all seemed absolutely too much. You’re knowledge and guidance was a saving grace. You helped Ryan and I get our feelings on to paper and then beautifully retold our story on the day. The element you brought to our day was super special. Everyone commented on how much you were able to draw them all in and take them on our journey (without them looking at their watches and wondering just how much longer was left!) One of the most standout moments of the day for us was the handfasting. That part of the ceremony just meant so much to us, and being able to get our children to be a part of it just made it all the more special. So, Thank You!!
